Is it possible to have less number of derived factors than the number of factors in a questionnaire in using exploratory factor analysis?
Ultimately you need to apply CFA for your questionnaire. EFA will give you an idea about the existence of sub factors in your questionnaire. Donโt be so much frustrated if you see too many factors in EFA. Check the covariance between the factors and try to group your factors. Run CFA with those groups as sub factors but it must be supported by the theory.
